Three men have been arrested by gardai as part of a crackdown on drug-related intimidation by criminals in North Dublin.
The men – who are aged in their 20s and 40s – are currently in custody in Dublin garda stations after they were arrested under organised crime legislation.
The arrests were made as part of An Garda Siochana’s strategy to target drug related intimidation (DRI) in North Dublin in 2023, known as Operation Fógra
Operation Fógra was launched to combat drug related intimidation after it was identified as a major source of community harm in the DMR (North Dublin) region.
It’s aim is to reduce harm caused by this type of criminality and to gather information to inform garda operational responses.
A garda spokesman said the arrested men are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
“As part of ongoing investigations into drug related intimidation in the North Dublin region, Gardaí in the DMR North arrested three men on Thursday, 25th January 2024.
“This investigation is part of Operation Fógra and relates to suspected incidents of drug related intimidation committed over a period of months in 2023.
“The three men (aged in their 20s and 40s) were arrested under organised crime legislation and are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006, at Garda stations in Dublin.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
