Arrest made after man dies in Kildare stabbing

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man following a “fatal assault” in Kilcock in Co Kildare.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the incident which occurred at an apartment on School Street, this afternoon.

The man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene.

A second male aged in his 40s has been arrested and is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in Kildare.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow, February 9, at the mortuary at Naas General Hospital by State Pathologist Sally Ann Collis.

Gardaí are appealing to any one in the vicinity of School Street between 3pm and 4pm and observed any activity which drew their attention to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the vicinity of School Street between 3pm and 4pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
