Man due in court after Dublin city centre assault leaves one hospitalised

The incident happened at a commercial premises on Liffey Street Lower, Dublin 1 at approximately 12:40am on Sunday

A man was hospitalised after an assault in Dublin city centre during the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at a commercial premises on Liffey Street Lower, Dublin 1 at approximately 12:40am on Sunday. A man in his 20’s was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment following the assault.

His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. A second man in his 20’s was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in the Dublin area, under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ), Court No. 1, on Monday 12th February 2024 at approximately 10.30am.

A garda spokeswoman said: “Investigations are ongoing.”
