A man in his 20s is due in court this morning charged as part of an investigation into drug-related intimidation in north Dublin.

The man was arrested by gardaí in the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) North on Tuesday as part of Operation Fógra, a garda probe into suspected intimidation incidents committed between 2022 and 2023.

“The man was arrested by under organised crime legislation and detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at a garda station in North Dublin,” a garda spokesperson said.

“He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (Court 4) this morning at 10.30am.

Operation Fógra is a garda response in the DMR to Drug Related Intimidation (DRI) which is conducted as part of the Garda National Strategy under Operation Tara.

Operation Fógra was launched to combat drug related intimidation which gardaí say has been identified as a major source of community harm and fear in the DMR and “a sinister motive for various forms of criminality.”

The operation has two underpinning pillars including a harm reduction victim-centred approach and information-enabled policing informing operational responses.

“The objectives of Operation Fógra are to support communities, increase frontline awareness of DRI and enhance collaboration,” a garda spokesperson added.
