FAT Freddie Thompson has been transferred from prison in Portlaoise to Cork this week, according to Sunday World sources.
He is currently facing charges of alleged threats made to staff at the high-security Portlaoise Prison in 2022.
His address in the proceedings was listed as the Midlands Prison which is next door to the Portlaoise complex.
After his court appearance last week he told reporters: “I’m an innocent man”.
He is facing charges of threatening to kill and assaulting a prison officer in November 2022.
Thompson told the court he was representing himself in the matter when he appeared at Portlaoise District Court in front of Judge Andrew Cody.
It was put forward that the case should be remanded until 14 March for a Book of Evidence to be prepared.
“How long is that for? I am looking for a two-week remand if possible. It’s going back …” he asked.
Judge Cody asked if Thompson would agree to a two-week remand to which he answered: “Yeah.”
After confirming the book of evidence would be ready by this date, Judge Cody put the case back to 28 February.
Detective Garda Padraic Ryan gave evidence of charging Thompson last week saying when cautioned Thompson made no reply to the charges.
Thompson is facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for making threats to kill, and a maximum sentence of five years in prison in relation to the section 3 assault charge.
He is charged that on November 17, 2022 at Portlaoise Prison, he assaulted an assistant chief officer causing him harm.
He is charged on the same date at the same location he made a threat that he would kill or cause him serious harm.
On May 18, 2022, at the same location, he is charged that he made threats to kill or cause serious harm to same officer.
Noting that Thompson was already in custody on a separate matter, Judge Cody remanded him on bail in the sum of €100.
The 43-year-old later left Portlaoise District Court after enjoying a meal bought the fast food outlet Supermacs.
“Supermacs – it’s the best food in Portlaoise,” he said still carrying a drinks cup in his hand, before being led away to a waiting prison van.
