A retired judge has called for Drew Harris to be sacked following the scandal over a garda being investigated and suspended for giving a pensioner a bike.

Former Dublin District Court judge Gillian Hussey made the comments days after a Garda hearing cleared the officer of all disciplinary charges against him.

Judge Hussey, who is a widely respected former member of the criminal bench, said on social media: “The Commissioner is the person who should have been sacked long ago. Very sad for the officer who was suspended for all that time.”

Judge Hussey confirmed last night that she had made her comments on a post on Linkedin that referred to an RTE story. She told the Irish Mirror: “Yes, that was what I said.”
