Pasty Hutch and son Patrick unconcerned about death threats on car-buying trip
Father and son linked to deadly gangland feud spotted buying second-hand car

Kinahan Cartel targets Patsy Hutch and his son Patrick looked unconcerned about any lingering threat as they bought a second-hand car at a Dublin dealership this week.
Eight years since the murder of Patsy’s son, Gary, in Spain in September 2015 – the killing that sparked the lethal Hutch-Kinahan feud – the pair appeared relaxed as they went about their business.
Patrick (31) has previously been shot by Daniel Kinahan while his father Patsy (63) has been the target of determined assassination attempts, costing the Kinahans thousands of euros.

Their care-free demeanour this week was miles from the height of the feud when any member of the Hutch clan was likely to be gunned down during 2016 and 2107.
The father and son were regarded as among the top four targets for the murderous Kinahan cartel – alongside Patsy’s brother Gerry Hutch and loyal lieutenant James ‘Mago’ Gately.
Patsy’s brother, Eddie, was murdered by the Kinahans just days after David Byrne was gunned down at the Regency Hotel in February 2016.
Nephews Derek Coakley Hutch and Gareth Hutch were also victims of the bloody feud that raged on Dublin’s streets after gunmen disguised as Emergency Response Unit (ERU) gardaí stormed the Dublin hotel.
A garda unit had provided protection at Patsy Hutch’s family residence in Champion’s Avenue for years during the worst of the feud violence.

The last time the father and son were pictured in public was in February 2019, when Patsy drove Patrick Jnr away on his motorbike after his Regency murder trial sensationally collapsed.
It had been the State’s case that Patrick Jnr was the “man in drag” during the hotel attack, but Patrick walked free from court after the DPP decided not to proceed with the charges.
He had pleaded not guilty.
It’s understood that before his release gardaí met with Patrick Hutch in jail to warn him of an active threat against his life.
Patsy Hutch was a top target for the Kinahan Cartel in the wake of the Regency and six years ago this month – March 2018 – a hit team were arrested near his home.
A nine-man Kinahan cartel team were later jailed for their roles in the murder plot.
The father and son arrived at a west Dublin car dealership this week where they checked several vehicles before taking a 17-year-old Toyota for a test drive.

On their return, they bought a sandwich from a nearby filling station as the second-hand car, worth about €3,000, was given a once-over by the dealer.
There was no sign of any wariness as they openly walked between the shop and garage before returning to Patsy’s car.
The deal was quickly concluded at the dealership, with Patrick driving the car back to the filling station to get fuel before setting off in his newly-acquired car, with Patsy following.
The deadly feud has its origins in a 2014 punishment shooting carried out by Daniel Kinahan in which Patrick Hutch was shot in the legs.
This was part of a deal between the factions after Gary Hutch tried to have Daniel shot dead in Spain in 2014 in a row over money.
It was agreed to hand over €200,000 and Patrick would surrender himself to be shot at a lock-up in north Dublin.
But the Kinahans broke the deal when Gary Hutch was shot dead in Spain in what was the first murder in the feud.
The Hutches responded by trying to kill Daniel Kinahan at a boxing promotion event in the Regency Hotel in February 2016.
Members to the gang dressed as a garda tactical team took part in the attack in which David Byrne was shot dead and senior Kinahan lieutenant Sean McGovern wounded in the leg.

During trial of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch for Byrne’s murder, more details emerged about Patsy’s alleged role in the attack.
While The Monk was acquitted by the three-judge panel, its judgement raised the possibility that it was Patsy Hutch who organised the attack.
It was stated in the judgement that a “reasonable possibility arises on the evidence that the Regency was planned by Patsy Hutch and that Gerard Hutch stepped in, as head of the family, to attempt to sort out the aftermath of the Regency, particularly as his own life was at risk.”

In the meantime, The Monk has been back in Lanzarote where he has a number of business interest and turned up at an art exhibition in Kerry which featured his portait; he also unconcerned about any threats to his life.
