A far-right agitator, previously called out in the Dail as a ‘dog kicker and creche creeper’ and an ‘inciter’ of the Dublin riots has confirmed he is running for a plum €120,000 role in Europe.
Self-styled citizen journalist Philip Dwyer is looking to be elected as an Ireland First candidate in the upcoming European elections.
Dwyer is currently before the courts charged with engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour outside a creche arising from an incident where he confronted staff in relation to a children’s drawing of a rainbow.
The 56-year-old is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court for a hearing of the alleged offence on September 19.
One of the far right’s most active posters on social media, Dwyer announced on Twitter last week that he plans to run for a post as an MEP in July “for the children of this country”.“I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be running for the European elections in June,” he said in a video. “The number one reason that I’ve decided to run is for the children of this country and the Irish nation.”
A former postman, Dwyer was dismissed from An Post in May 2010, with the company citing dereliction of duty and failure to comply with their instructions.
During an unfair dismissal case taken by Dwyer, it emerged he had kicked a number of dogs, including a friendly collie he kicked in the head with a steel toe-cap boot, and threatened another woman that he would kill her family’s dog.
