A woman has appeared in court accused of destroying evidence in a garda investigation by burning a diary.
The 67-year-old woman is facing jury trial in the circuit court on the charge.
Judge Stephanie Coggans remanded the woman on continuing bail to appear before the court again next month.
The woman, with an address in Blanchardstown, is accused of perverting the course of justice at her home on June 20, last year.
It is alleged that the woman burned a diary belonging to another individual in the fireplace of the property, destroying evidence in an ongoing investigation.
It is alleged that the diary contained information and detailed the reaction and response in relation to an ongoing garda investigation.
Blanchardstown District Court heard that the DPP had directed trial in the circuit court on the charge.
Judge Coggans adjourned the case for seven weeks for the service of the book of evidence.
Defence solicitor Simon Fleming applied for legal aid, and his colleague Amanda Connolly was assigned on free legal aid by the judge.
The accused woman has not yet indicated how she intends pleading to the charge.
