The CEO of one of the motorsports companies based in The Engine Room which caught fire in Dublin last night has said that his ‘heart is broken.’

Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade rushed to the ‘home of car culture in Ireland’ which went up in flames last night at roughly 20:50.

A terrible blaze gutted the building where Deane Motors, Drift Games, JC Autocare and many others operate in the Ballycoolin industrial estate, Dublin 15.

It took 22 firefighters to extinguish the blaze which was started by a ‘gas explosion,’ according to RTÉ news.

Dave Egan is the owner of the ‘Drift Games’ motor store. The company’s tagline on social media is ‘Car guys making stuff for car guys,’ where they post images of their motorsports creations.

“It’s all gone. Everything,” Mr Egan said today.

“There are too many scam opportunists operating in Ireland at the moment. I am sure some people mean well, but let the businesses involved directly organise any recovery fund raising.”

Irish Drift Championship stated “We are deeply saddened to hear of the devastating fire that engulfed the Drift Games and The Engine Block building.

“Our hearts go out to all those affected by this tragic event. This iconic structure held memories and stories of innovation, hard work, and dedication.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt, and our thoughts are with all those affected by this heart-breaking incident.”
