This is the Co Antrim tradesman who has admitted trying to engage in explicit sex chats with a young girl.
As Peter Joseph Robb stood in the dock of Antrim Magistrates Court on Tuesday, defence counsel Peter Sands confirmed to the court, which was sitting in Ballymena, the 40-year-old was entering a guilty plea to the single charge against him.
Robb, a self-employed tiler from Mount Shalgus Lane in Randalstown, confessed that between September 11-12 last year, he attempted to engage in sexual communication “for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification” with a girl under 16, “the communication being sexual or intended to encourage the child to make a communication that was sexual, and you did not reasonably believe she was 16 years or over”.
Following Robb’s admission, Mr Sands asked for sentencing to be adjourned to allow time for the Probation Board to prepare a pre-sentence report.
District Judge Nigel Broderick agreed and advised Robb: “I want you to meet with probation to prepare a report so speak to the probation officer here before you leave the building to make arrangements.”
He said given the “very serious nature of the charge,” he would grant legal aid and extend that to include counsel.
Freeing the pervert on bail, he ordered Robb to come back to court for sentencing on May 21.
