Dublin City Council waits for details of probe into €550,000 paid to stop homes being damaged

The Department of Housing has been accused of “sitting on” an explosive report into the alleged role of Dublin City Council (DCC) in facilitating “protection payments” to criminals.

An investigation was launched after the Criminal Assets Bureau (Cab) uncovered evidence in 2019 that three building firms contracted by DCC and Cooperative Housing Ireland paid €550,000 to criminals to stop local thugs from vandalising social housing construction sites.
