A notorious paedophile nicknamed the ‘Beast of Broughshane’ has brazenly used an online dating site despite being slapped with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
Peter David Clyde (44), who was the first person in Northern Ireland to be charged with paying for sexual services, has an open profile on a website called OnlyLads and the shameless child abuser even posted a selfie as his profile picture.
On the website, Clyde’s account describes him as a “44-year-old gay male from Ballymoney” who is looking for “friendship”, a “workout partner” and “casual”.
Elsewhere the profile adds: “Looking to meet local top/versatile guys who can accommodate for NSA fun.”
In gay dating culture, a “top” is someone who enjoys taking a more active or dominant role in a relationship, while NSA is usually an acronym for “no strings attached”.Clyde, of Rocavan Meadow, Broughshane, Co Antrim, also describes himself as having a “large” body type, blue eyes, “shaved” hair and “one or two” tattoos with no piercings.
Sunday Life called repeatedly to Clyde’s home address in order to discuss the matter but there was no answer at the door.
OnlyLads describes itself on Facebook as “the ultimate gay social networking site” providing the chance to “meet hot guys in your area” for “gay dating and gay chat”.
Twisted Clyde sent seedy messages to what he believed to be a 14-year-old boy called ‘Stevie’ in January 2018. The ‘child’ was in fact a decoy acting for a group of self-styled paedophile hunters online.
Some details were too graphic to publish but one message Clyde reportedly sent to the ‘child’ stated he wanted to “tie you up… drive you somewhere quiet… strip you”.
During a court appearance in 2019, it emerged Clyde had previous convictions for sex offences including one for committing gross indecency with a child dating back over 10 years.
It is understood this is when the devious child abuser changed his name from Richard Smith to Peter David Clyde. Despite changing his name he has reportedly continued to use both and had social media profiles in both names running throughout his 2019 contest.
Clyde posted pictures of himself online with a bloodied face in the days after his conviction in 2019. He had reportedly been assaulted at the famous Game of Thrones setting The Dark Hedges, Bregagh Road, Co Antrim, when locals caught him allegedly chatting up teenage boys.
The fiend was once deemed so likely to reoffend he was placed among just a handful of sex offenders who could only be managed by a special centralised PSNI unit.
