A shoplifter found with a “de-tagger” in her pocket after she stole from four stores in a row admitted the thefts were premeditated, a court has heard.
Mother-of-one Ilona Tintari (28), who stole clothes and groceries worth a total of €289, was “not a rich person” and was under pressure, her defence said.
Judge Máire Conneely adjourned the case for a restorative justice report. She said if this was favourable, she would apply the Probation Act on payment of €100 to charity.
Tintari, of Elder Heath Row, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to theft at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre on April 12.
Blanchardstown District Court heard she stole four Victoria’s Secret items worth €140 at Next; food worth €49 at Marks & Spencer; a €25 blouse at Zara; and clothing worth €72 at Bershka.
The court heard she was seen leaving Next without paying for items. She then went to Marks & Spencer. Gardaí stopped her and she had the other items on her.
A de-tagger was found in her trouser pocket.
Tintari, from Moldova, had a child, “isn’t a rich person” and was under pressure, her solicitor Simon Fleming said. She apologised for the offences and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
