A sommelier arrested for hurling abuse at gardaí on a city street after he had too much to drink has been spared convictions for public order offences.
Lee McKenna (29) failed to move on after officers found him in an aggressive confrontation, a court heard.
McKenna, with an address at St Michan’s House, Greek Street, Dublin 7, pleaded guilty to threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour, and failing to comply with garda directions.McKenna was told to make a €350 charity donation and when the case came back before Dublin District Court, Judge Gerard Jones was told the money had been paid.
He struck the charges out.
The court had heard gardaí on duty at Store Street station on February 9 heard shouting outside and went out to find the accused and another man acting aggressively towards each other.
On approach, the pair acted in a threatening and abusive manner to the gardaí and were both directed to desist.
