A teenager has been charged in connection with an incident of criminal damage by fire at a property in Tallaght, Dublin 24 last week.
Gardaí believe the fire was started at St John’s House, a vacant property on High Street in Tallaght, at around 11pm on Tuesday, May 21.
It followed a number of protests in the area recently against the housing of migrants at the vacant building.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the fire was brought under control a short time later.A man in his late teens was arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing criminal damage at the property.
He has since been charged and will appear in court tomorrow.A garda spokesperson said: “The man who was arrested on Saturday 25th May 2024, and was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in Dublin has since been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before Tallaght District Court, tomorrow morning Monday 27th May, 2024 at 10.30am.”
Investigations are ongoing.
