A care worker threatened to drag a colleague down an alley, cause him “serious harm”, kill the man’s girlfriend and “dance on her teeth”.

Kenneth Dalton (45) also twice attacked the co-worker, slapping, kicking and grabbing him in separate incidents.

There was a “fraught history” to the case and Dalton’s “mental health wasn’t great” at the time of the assault and threats, his defence said.

Judge Treasa Kelly said the threats were “very unpleasant” and adjourned the case at Dublin District Court for a restorative justice report.

Dalton, from Castlewood Avenue, Rathmines, pleaded guilty to assaulting his colleague on two separate dates, as well as threatening to kill or cause serious harm to the man and his girlfriend, all at Harold’s Cross Road.

The court heard on April 7, 2023, the co-worker told gardaí Dalton had slapped and kicked him. He also reported that the previous January 3, Dalton had grabbed him by the jacket and thrown him to the side.“There are two sides to the story but he’s pleading guilty to the charges,” the solicitor

The court case had had a “huge effect” on the accused, who had applied for a number of jobs but was subject to garda vetting. He did not take the case lightly.

The judge said she realised there was “a background” but said the offences had a very serious impact on the victims.

Ordering a report, she said she wanted to see that he “has an insight into what occurred”.
