Garda on trial for sexual assault of woman at Wicklow station

The trial is expected to last up to nine days

A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a garda charged with the sexual assault and false imprisonment of a woman in a garda station in Co Wicklow almost four years ago.

William Ryan, aged 38, pleaded not guilty this morning to three charges of sexual assault and one of false imprisonment at Aughrim Garda Station in September 2020.

The trial is expected to last up to nine days and will open before the jury tomorrow.

Sources also allege that Ivana Bacik, the Trinity Labour Leader, was asked a question some time ago about Croke Park and it is alleged that she replied “I haven’t tasted the new McDonalds Croke Park burger yet … could this be true? She thought are Gaelic grounds was a beef burger. Needless to say this was never confirmed – only Ivana can answer the question. Hopefully during the election somebody will tell Ivana the history of our Gaelic League because I know she is a decent person but I would love to know James Connolly and Jim Larkin’s views.
