RTE viewers were left “disgusted” following the chilling Eamon Casey documentary that aired last night.
Bishop Casey’s Buried Secrets aired on RTE One on Monday night in conjunction with The Irish Mail on Sunday, exploring the handling of allegations against the former Bishop by the Catholic Church.
Viewers of an explosive RTÉ documentary have been left sickened at revelations of former Galway Bishop Eamonn Casey’s dark secrets.

The infamous priest was removed from the ministry in 2007 and passed away in 2017 after rising to infamy when scandalous secrets began to be exposed in the early 90s after an American woman named Annie Murphy revealed that Casey had fathered a son with her in the 1970s.The Vatican confirmed that he was removed from ministry in 2007 following a strew of allegations against him, however, this was never disclosed publicly while he was alive.
The Vatican declined to comment when asked what process of investigation was followed or whether sanctions it imposed on Bishop Casey were punitive or precautionary.
Eamon Casey, who was also the centre of a scandal in the church after he fathered a child with an American woman in 1974, maintained his removal from ministry was unjust.
Despite the Vatican’s knowledge of the serious accusations made against him, Casey remained a bishop until his death in 2017 and was buried in a crypt in Galway Cathedral.
