A 30-year-old man who previously appeared in court charged with the murder of father-of-two Ian Baitson in Cobh, Co Cork now faces a charge of producing a long-bladed sword on the date of the alleged offence.
Dylan Scannell of O’Rahilly Street in Cobh was charged with the murder of Ian Baitson, 33, at Newtown Road in the town on 15 March last.
Mr Scannell appeared before Mallow District Court where he was charged with two further offences.
He was charged with producing a long-bladed sword and allegedly handling, possessing and using property (cash) that is the proceeds of criminal conduct.
Det Garda David O’Shea gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. He said that Mr Scannell made no reply when he was charged with the two further offences at 10.12am today at Mallow Courthouse.
Inspector Tony O’Sullivan applied for a remand in custody for a week for the service of the book of evidence in the case.
Judge Marie Keane remanded Mr Scannell in custody to appear before the court on 13 August next.
Mr Scannell will appear by video link when he is next before the court.
