Drugs worth an estimated €617,000 seized by Revenue

Drugs worth an estimated €617,000 have been seized by Revenue officers in the past week.

39kgs of cannabis resin and 11.8kg of herbal cannabis, along with quantities of other illegal drugs, were recovered following the examination of parcels in Dublin and the Midlands.

The parcels had originated in the USA, the UK, India, Canada, Spain, Thailand, Sweden and New Zealand.

They were addressed to a number of locations across the country.

Retail products worth an estimated €119,000 were also seized.

Revenue says the seizures are part of an operation targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
