Irish gold medalists Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy caught a ride home to Cork with a friendly stranger they met on the flight home? Some perspective: This story has gone worldwide and Irish people are asking Why were these Irish heroes, not once, but twice, Gold Medallists not given the respect and welcome at Dublin airport on their arrival home a few days ago. Other athletes who won no medals are on RTE every Bloody Hour of the Day and yet these Cork heroes are treated like ??? Only for they met Mr Duggan on the plane, another hero, and he gave our Gold Medallists a lift to Cork. Where was Micheal Martin, the Minister for Sport, forget Sinn Fein, they don’t like Sport but somebody needs to ask some hard questions here.
