A 60-year-old convicted murderer has been arrested in Dublin on foot of an extradition warrant sought by the PSNI.

In a statement, the PSNI said that the man was unlawfully at large from prison in Northern Ireland in relation to a conviction from 1990.

He was arrested yesterday and appeared before the Extradition Court in Dublin this morning.

The man was remanded to prison pending the extradition proceedings.

Sergeant Davey from PSNI’s International Policing Unit said they “continue to work with closely with An Garda Síochána to locate and arrest persons sought for extradition”.

“We appreciate the continued assistance of An Garda Síochána is tracking down those who abscond from the justice system here in Northern Ireland.”
