Throw baby out with bath water: this is a luxury we cannot afford. Homelessness is at crisis levels, students need places to live, those on the local authority ladder are there for years. Yet we know there are thousands of vacant potential homes. There has been legislation that has worked but sadly greed can so easily intervene in the works of what was a “Good” charity especially for the homeless going back some 50 years or worse bureaucracy in the tentacles that surround it can make a nest of vipers and deny people homes. Time to ask questions. We need to get back Peter McVerry Trust back on track doing what it does best. BUY OR LEASE EMPTY HOMES

Peter McVerry Trust is urgently seeking to make contact with the owners of
empty residential properties in Dublin, Kildare and Limerick.

Under two new Government Schemes, the REPAIR AND LEASING SCHEME and the
BUY AND RENEW SCHEME, funding is available to Peter McVerry Trust to get
long-term empty properties back into the housing system.

REPAIR AND LEASING SCHEME
AT A GLANCE This is pre-Covid 19 but it needs to form foundation of increasing the stock of homes for those who are homeless especially children.

Targets residential properties empty or derelict for approximately 1 year.

Grants to property owners of up to €40,000 per unit to get properties back into use.
Lease terms of 10, 15 or 20 years (term dependant on grant value).
State guaranteed rental income for the duration of the lease.
Rental income of up to 85% of current market rates (with grant repayment offset).
Property and tenants managed by Peter McVerry Trust.
Renovation works and contractors can also be managed by Peter McVerry Trust.
