All Irish People, are Decent, they are Worried and Angry. When they Protest, They are labelled when they give their opinion when they witness too many foreigners coming into their villages and towns. The label these days is “FAR RIGHT”. O’Gorman is a Waste of Space. He believes he is above the ordinary people of Ireland. I don’t LABEL Roderic as homosexual. I see him as a human being and a politician. He therefore should engage with the Irish people in the same way because RESPECT is Core to any problem. Irish people should not be BATTENED down by An Gardai Siochana. There should be a “Sit-Down” and then Peaceful Negotiations. Right now we see from around the entire country of Ireland, the anger is growing and People are on the BRINK. In one village alone, there are 24 single men under the age of 40, UNVETTED, and sources tell us that many of them have no Papers or Documents. Can you Blame decent Irish people for trying to protect their villages, their families, their neighbourhoods and their personal safety is their basic human right.

Asylum seekers ‘settling in’ to Roscrea hotel, but children upset at clashes – O’Gorman

16/01/2024

The Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman has said that the asylum seekers in a hotel in Roscrea have settled, but that the children were upset at clashes between protestors and Gardaí.

Scuffles broke out at the Racket Hall Hotel in Roscrea, Co Tipperary on Monday as protesters gathered while asylum seekers were being taken into the premises.

Demonstrators have been gathered outside the property since Thursday after news broke that the hotel was to be used to house asylum seekers.

Gardai, including members of the public order unit, formed a cordon at the entrance to the site while the international protection applicants were bussed to the hotel. A man was arrested during the incident.

The building is to provide accommodation for around 160 applicants as the State struggles to house refugees, with Minister O’Gorman saying the site would be used for families and single women.

The minister said women and children being accommodated at the hotel on Monday witnessed the clashes, adding that the children were upset by the scenes.

‘My understanding is, from talking to my officials, that they’re settling in but it was a difficult enough experience, children were upset at seeing the scuffles, experiencing the violent tension as they arrived,’ Mr O’Gorman told Morning Ireland on Tuesday.

He added he respected the right to protest but added that people could express themselves in a way that ‘doesn’t impact on vulnerable people.

‘I don’t think it is ever acceptable to block people’s access to the place that they’re staying.’However, he added ‘I think we also recognise there are people who are travelling around the country – far-right activists – who are looking to stir up anti-immigrant sentiment.’

Mr O’Gorman added that he does not have plans to visit Roscrea personally, and that he’s planning to bring proposals to Cabinet that are ‘more planned, more structured and more resourced.’

He said that these plans involve building large reception centres, noting that continuing to use properties like Racket Hall was ‘unsustainable.’

Despite these plans, Mr O’Gorman did not specify how many would be needed, and added that he is working on a robust communication campaign to tackle what he described as substantial ‘myths’ about immigration.
