The haul of guns is alleged to consists of a Kalashnikov AK-47;0 a semi-automatic pistol; a 9mm Luger; a Cadet semi-automatic rifle; a pump action shotgun, a side loading machine gun, an Uzi sub machine gun, a Bolt action rifle and a FN FAL rifle.
The haul of ammunition is alleged to consist of eight rounds of .247 ammunition; four rounds of 12 gauge Slug ammunition; 500 rounds of pellet ammunition and 65 rounds of .62 calibre ammunition.
Garda Paul Kelly of the Economic Crime Unit at Balbriggan Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
He said the accused was arrested on Monday morning and made ‘no reply’ after the 19 charges were put to him. Solicitor Martin O’Donnell made an application for bail which Gda Kelly said there was no objection to with conditions.
The conditions of bail are that the accused lodge €1,000 cash bail, to surrender his passport, which Gda Kelly said he already has, and to sign on weekly at Balbriggan Garda Station.
Judge Aylmer granted bail and the case was adjourned until a date in November where directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are expected. Gda Kelly said there also may be possible further charges.
