A retired ornament dealer has been named in the latest tax defaulters list from Revenue after he received a court-determined penalty of €764,630.

The order related to William Hale, Church Street, Ballyporeen, Co Tipperary, and was imposed for under-declaration of income tax in the amount of €763,995.

Brian Murphy, a consultant from Garran Ferney, Carrigaline, Co Cork, made a settlement of €845,343 for under-declaration of income tax.

This was made up of €419,724 in tax, €110,826 in interest and €314,793 in penalties.

Seán Clarke, an accountant from Cairnbrook Manor, Glenamuck Road, Carrickmines, Dublin 18, received a court-determined penalty of €353,313 for under-declaration of income tax in the amount of €600,082.

The latest list of tax defaulters published today relates to the period 1 April 2024 to 30 June 2024.

There were nine court-determined penalties during the period, totalling €1,882,871.

There were 57 cases that involved a court-imposed fine, imprisonment or other penalty and €98,530 was the total of court fines imposed.

Among the offences were failures to lodge income tax returns, failures to lodge VAT returns, misuses of marked mineral oil and excise offences for tobacco smuggling.

Details of 11 settlement cases have been published amounting to €2,209,986.

Seven of the cases exceeded €100,000, of which, 1 case exceeded €500,000.

There was one case in which the settlement was not fully paid as of 30 June 2024.
