Sheridan fumed: “I spent seven years investigating this shocking murder and yet one of our top politicians can come along right out of the blue and say Ian Bailey should have been charged with the killing and that he regretted it didn’t happen.
“Since he has now solved the case, he should immediately stop the Garda investigation into Sophie’s murder and instead spend the €6million it has cost so far building 20 new bicycle sheds around Dail Eireann.”


The esteemed director said he could not believe that Martin had decided to intervene in the case at the launch of a new book, ‘Sophie: The Final Verdict’ written by journalist Senan Molony.
