The suspected arson attack occurred at Pike Avenue, Garryowen, shortly before 10pm.

HSE paramedics transferred the injured man via ambulance, from the scene to University Hospital Limerick where he was being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Gardai as well as firefighters attached to the Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service also responded to the scene.

Nobody else was reported to have been injured in the incident.Investigating Gardai remained at the house this morning and were to carry out house to house enquiries in the area.

A garda spokesman said Gardai were “investigating a fire which occurred at a residence in Garryowen, at approximately 9.50pm, Sunday”.
