A Clonmel man with a history of drug abuse who stole a Yankee candle from a shop in Clonmel, received a four month prison sentence at Cashel district court.
Leagh Cashman, of Boherduff Heights, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, was charged by Garda Scott McCormack with stealing a Yankee candle valued at €20 from the Mr Price store, Burgarylands, East Clonmel, Tipperary, on May 31, 2024.

Solicitor Aidan Leahy told Judge Brian O’Shea that Mr Cashman had pleaded guilty. Mr Cashman had walked around the Mr Price shop at about 8pm and left without paying for the item. He was co-operative with gardaí but the property was not recovered.
Mr Cashman has 30 previous convictions, including six for theft and fraud offences, along with drugs and public order offences. He previously received a three-month prison sentence at Clonmel district court.
The court heard Cashman had had an addiction to tablets and other substances, and this was the basis for his issues, said Mr Leahy. Judge O’Shea imposed a prison sentence of four months on Mr Cashman, backdated to October 1.
