EX-Sinn Fein TD Brian Stanley was facing a finding of gross misconduct on grounds of “sexual harassment” following an internal party inquiry.

He resigned from the party five days after he was presented with the draft findingsA preliminary finding of gross misconduct was being prepared against Deputy Stanley following an internal Sinn Fein inquiry prior to him resigning from the party.

The report stated that this was a breach of party discipline and the party ethics charter.

Brian Stanley previously stated that the complaints procedure within Sinn Fein was “seriously flawed” describing it as operating like a “kangaroo court”.

He resigned from the party five days after he was presented with the draft findings.
