‘We don’t feel safe’ –  Prison officers attack fears alert as increasing level of jail violence laid bare in shock stats A Shocking 399 prison officers were violently attacked in Irish jails over the last four years, new stats show. The figures were released by Justice Minister Helen McEntee, who condemned the horrific attacks. McEntee is a total Disgrace, as a Minister for Justice. She is more Interested in Blocking Free Speech, More Foreigners coming into Ireland, and Transgender, People of Eire, Stand Together, Vote McEntee out.

‘If something urgent is not done to protect us a member of the prison staff will be killed by prisoners one of these days’“Staff who are subject to an assault or threat in our prisons are given the necessary supports through the employee assistance programme.

“Any person who assaults or threatens to assault a peace officer in the execution of their duty is guilty of an offence.

“I increased the maximum penalty available for assaulting a peace officer from seven  to 12 years which came into effect on 1 November, 2023.”

The figures for attacks on prison staff this year are not available yet .
