| It was very ill-mannered of Kamala Harris to ghost her supporters for nearly 12 hours after Donald Trump won. These are the people who voted for her, canvassed for her – they were wearing T-shirts with her name! They were waiting for her in a hall in Washington as the depressing news filtered in (from their point of view it must have been crushing)… Then the lights went out and someone told them to go home .There are echoes here of Trump telling him supporters to go home, only he didn’t leave the task to an usher. He turned up in person. Trump attracts a lot of passionate people and instead of obeying him they stormed the building and he was scapegoated for it – did Kamala really fear her fans would do something similar? I doubt it. At the very least, she should have showed up, appealed to them not to over-react, to regroup, re-establish their grassroots support – and to find another candidate to represent them next time. |
