There was & is quite possibly a test and intelligence gathering operation going on with the subsea cable events over the last few days (and there will sooner or later be more to come). What the response time is for an obvious threat loitering over cables: That was in the Irish Sea at the weekend. Then you have the cuts in the Baltic. What China & Russia will be observing: Stress/power needed to snap a cable with an anchor drag. What the response time is to repair the cuts. What is deployed to repair cuts. Who is deployed to repair cuts. Where does traffic re-route when the cuts occurred. Compromised telecommunications networks are highly valuable to them at this time. Just another reason why it was insane or worse to allow PRC telecommunications kit to be deployed anywhere in Europe.
