Several hundred people have marched in Dublin in support of the woman who won a civil rape case against Conor McGregor.
On Friday, a jury at the High Court in Dublin found the mixed martial arts fighter had assaulted Nikita Hand by raping her in a hotel in Dublin in December 2018.
McGregor was ordered to pay Ms Hand almost €250,000 (£206,000) in damages.
Among the speakers at Monday night’s protest was Natasha O’Brien, a high-profile victim of an assault by an Irish soldier.Donna Heaney from the survivors’ group Sisi said that victims need to be heard and believed.
“The fact that the DPP weren’t able to prosecute this is huge and I’m so glad there was some sort of justice – it wasn’t enough,” she said.
“So many victims go through the same thing.”
