
NEW: A Syrian migrant has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Germany for dousing the 17-year-old sister of his ex-fiancée in gasoline and setting her on fire. Hamza A., 24, was convicted by the Arnsberg regional court for the heinous attack that occurred in March last year in the city of Menden. In a premeditated attack, the Syrian man sought to inflict maximum suffering on his former partner and visited her house one evening with a can of gasoline. He rang the doorbell which was answered by his ex’s younger sister. Hamza immediately doused the victim in the fuel and set her ablaze at her family’s front door. After enduring excruciating pain, the victim died in hospital 17 days later as a result of her injuries. Following the sentencing, Hamza A.’s defense attorney confirmed he would appeal.
