TWO off-duty cops were attacked in Dublin’s Temple Bar

— with one suffering a serious head injury.

A man has been arrested after one the officers, in his 40s, suffered bleeding to brain, which is currently being treated in Beaumont Hospital.His colleague, in his 30s, suffered a concussion and was treated in hospital before being discharged.

Both men had been at a Christmas party and were on their way to get a bus home when they were jumped from behind in the random attack at around 1.30am this morning.

Investigators believe they may have been targeted in a suspected robbery.

We understand the suspect rifled through their pockets as they lay on the ground, with a phone and cash taken.
