Pensioner who caused ‘life-changing injuries’ after hitting neighbour in face with axe jailed for 12 years

A pensioner who hit his neighbour in the face with an axe which resulted in “life-changing injuries” was handed a sentence totalling 12 years today.

As well as launching the axe attack, 70-year-old William Scott Kirkpatrick then swung the weapon at two other neighbours who came to the wounded man’s assistance.
