‘We’ve been put through hell’ – heartbroken family cry ‘we don’t know why’ as killer jailed for ‘assassinating’ grandad The family of a slain grandfather who was shot dead by a gangland killer have said they don’t know why he was murdered.

Cailean Crawford, 28, had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Thomas McCarthy, 55, on July 27, 2020 at ­Croftwood Park, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.
