Appeal for witnesses over alleged assault of child at bus stop

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward in relation to the assault of a child at a bus stop in Ballymun, Dublin last week.

The assault on a child by a man is reported to have happened at a bus stop on the Ballymun Road at approximately 9:50pm last Friday, 27 December.

A video, which was shared on social media over the weekend, appeared to show the man striking the child.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Dublin Bus has said it is “aware of footage showing an alleged incident occurring adjacent to a bus on the 140 route”.

The company said they are “actively investigating this footage” and the incident is being taken “very seriously”.

“The safety of our customers and employees is always our priority,” Dublin Bus added.
