The State is pushing our young people to emigrate to foreign shores, whilst issuing Irish work permits at record numbers. In 2024 alone 12,000 Irish healthcare work permits were issued to people from outside the EU. A staggering report from the British Medical Journal in 2023 highlighted the extent of brain drain emigration of young Irish doctors. A total of 62 of 77 medical students from University College Cork who graduated in 2021 are currently practising in Australia. This is just one example and demonstrates the extent that our qualified young people are being forced out of Ireland in search of a better life, with sky rocketing rent prices and feelings of being devalued cited as the reasons for emigrating. Meanwhile the left are cheerleading emigration of our young by predictably referring to the high level of foreign doctors in Ireland as something that should be celebrated. History is repeating itself and is being applauded by the left. We should be advocating for measures to keep our highly qualified young doctors in Ireland, not celebrating their departure from our shores
