According to an Israeli Army Radio correspondent, the brigadier general in charge of recruiting Haredim (Ultra-Orthodox Jews) in the Israeli army, Major General David Zini, was attacked last night in the settlement of Bnei Brak, along with his assistant, while they were sitting in a restaurant. “Dozens of Ultra-Orthodox Jews gathered around them, chanted slogans and threw bottles. Police arrived at the scene and had to rescue the two officers from the incident. Three of the Ultra-Orthodox attackers were detained for police investigation.” In November, the Israeli army issued 1,126 arrest warrants for Haredim men who failed to call up for forced conscription.
