Two men have been arrested by gardaí investigating the murder of a 36-year-old man in Bray, Co Wicklow.

William Moorehouse died in the playground at Ballywaltrim on Sunday night after he was stabbed several times.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested in the Bray area last night for public order offences.

They are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

Gardaí are also carrying out further searches as part of their investigation and continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

Detectives believe that Mr Moorehouse was fatally stabbed after a fight had been arranged between members of the Travelling community who were in dispute.

However they are treating this as an isolated incident and not part of a feud.

The Traveller mediation service, a partnership funded by the Department of Justice which works to mediate in conflicts involving Travellers, has been called in to assist.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of Mr Moorehouse later today.

The examination of the crime scene has now been completed, the cordon has been lifted and schools, the community centre and the Ballywaltrim library have now reopened.
