A man in his 20s remains in garda custody this morning following a knife attack in Dublin yesterday in which three men were injured.
The three men, aged from their mid-20s to mid-40s, were attacked by the man in the Stoneybatter area of the city at around 3pm yesterday.
The men were injured at a number of locations in the residential area, including on Oxmantown Road and Niall Street.
They sustained what have been described as “slashing-type injuries”. All three were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Two are described as having serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the third person suffered a less serious injury.
A garda spokesperson said the force responded to the incident with “significant” resources including unarmed gardaí and detective gardaí who were supported by Armed Support Units.
Gardaí intercepted and arrested the man close to the scene of the incident.
The man is being held at a garda station in Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice.
Gardaí believe the suspect acted alone and said they are increasing their visibility in the area to “reassure the community”.
