Billy Kelleher, Ursula von der Leyen is the most powerful person in the EU. But she was not directly elected by the people. She was selected through a backroom nomination process. An unelected bureaucrat with no mandate or term limits, wielding power over 450million citizens

Hi Billy, you took part in a vote to approve von der Leyen, in a yes/no vote after she was selected behind closed doors by the European Council. EU citizens did not vote for her, nor did they get a choice of candidates. The European Parliament had the power to reject her, but not the power to choose a different candidate. Calling this a democratic election is stretching the definition A LOT! Also please explain the “Spitzenkandidat system” and why it was rejected in 2019.
