There is an opinion piece in the Irish Times by Gerard Howlin I find the situation oozing with hypocrisy. Having clearly breached the IHRA definition of Antisemitism on multiple occasions over the past 16 months the government and many politicians here has realised there are consequences that are not positive for Ireland, no matter about the actual lived experience of Jews here. The meeting between Micheal Martin and leaders of the Jewish community in the US is to “discuss the rise of global Antisemitism and actions by Ireland to combat anti-Semitism, both at home and internationally”. Anti-Semitism is on the rise across Europe, and Ireland will hold the presidency of the EU in the second half of 2026. We have ground to make up if we are to claim honest broker status on this issue’ *link to article in first comment
