Yesterday a Sinn Fein organiser for Co. Clare doxed my family in an act of intimidation. He proudly flies an Antifa-related banner. His aim, apparently, was to intimate that he would personally target the jobs of family members for my political views as a conservative journalist, or to signal to his radical followers to commit an act of intimidation or harm against my family. I have conducted the largest academic study of Antifa’s use of social media to organise real world violence and recognise this individual’s actions as an attempt to bully me, as a journalist, into silence. He was unable to harm me because I proudly use my name and stand over my beliefs online so he tried to use my family in Clare as a tool to shut me down. He was belittling and highly defamatory when I asked both publicly and privately that he delete his tweets and apologise. Eventually, rather than do so he locked his account and blocked me. Today he has reopened his account with the tweets deleted but has not apologised. I am happy to leave it there for now unless anyone in my family is abused or harassed. And shame on him that he would not apologise or admit fault but that’s become the norm now online unfortunately with leftist activists. People like this are why I am an independent journalist. When they disagree with you they jump straight to violent rhetoric and actions. They think they can intimidate you into silence and have you or your family lose careers because they don’t like your politics. It is another reminder of why Sinn Fein can never be allowed to hold power in Ireland. It is a party riddled with people who believe that abuse, bullying, harassment and even a resort to violence are acceptable political tactics. They will never be an alternative to. FF/G. And I will never back down from them.
