Gardai seize €47k of drugs and cash, improvised weapons, phones & drug paraphernalia in prisons contraband probe, Irish Jails in Tatters, Sun Paper Today.

Some €17,000 cannabis, €5,000 cocaine, and €3,000 worth of tablets were foundGARDAI found tens of thousands of euros worth of drugs and cash as well as a number of other items in searches of cells in Mountjoy Prison and properties in Dublin today.

Cops from the DMR South Serious Crime Unit, with assistance from the Dublin Crime Response Team and the Irish Prison Service, carried out the seizures as part of an ongoing investigation into the smuggling of controlled drugs and contraband into Wheatfield, Cloverhill and Mountjoy Prisons.
