SIX new victims of paedo surgeon Michael Shine have come forward since the start of the year.

Details of their ordeals were recounted to Taoiseach Micheal Martin last week.It came as Dignity4Patients, the group representing Shine’s 366 victims and their families, demanded a full investigation into his activities.

He had worked as a senior registrar at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda from 1964 to 1995.

Many of the survivors claim that the Medical Missionaries of Mary religious order, which was in charge of the hospital, was aware of the alleged abuse for years.

More than 200 victims have settled civil actions against the Medical Missionaries of Mary.Among the new victims to come forward is businessman Thomas Ayres, 75, who was molested by the 93-year-old monster in 1964.

Another is one of his youngest victims who was sexually abused 40 years later at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth, where Shine worked from 1964 to 1995.

And the Taoiseach was asked how he was able to get away with four decades of abuse.

Some victims were as young as four when Shine abused them.
