Crisis in Clonskeagh Mosq The Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICCI) in Clonskeagh is under major investigation. According to The Irish Times, the UAE-backed Al Maktoum Foundation, which funds the ICCI with €2.5m a year, raised concerns over “alleged financial irregularities” and “links with extremist ideology.” Key issues include the management of donations, including funds raised for Gaza, and the use of cash payments. Investigators are also probing alleged connections between mosque officials and the Muslim Brotherhood, which the UAE classifies as a terrorist group. Board member Zahid Jamil told The Irish Times: “The board is concerned about the financial situation and, as a result, an auditor has been officially appointed.” After a violent incident at a Quranic school meeting on April 19th, Jamil said: “It is the view of this board that extremism cannot be tolerated. Instead, we wish to portray the true essence of Islam.” The centre firmly denied rumours that member data had been sent abroad, calling such claims “defamatory and baseless.” The Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council backed the board’s intervention, warning the mosque had been dominated by those “who prioritised power over service” and “including elements with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.” A major security operation remains in place.
